Ferrari Dino was a brand for the mid-engine, rear-drive sports car of Ferrari from 1968 to 1976 produced. The Dino brand was meant to be used for cars with engines that had fewer than 12 cylinders, reserving the Ferrari name for the V-12 and only 12 models. The Dino name was retired after that point, in favor of conventional Ferrari branding. The Dino brand was an attempt by Ferrari to produce a relatively low cost sports car.
The models used Dino Ferrari naming designation of displacement and cylinder count with two digits for the size of the engine deciliter, and the third track of the number of cylinders, ie, set 246, a 2.4-liter six -cylinder and 308, a 3.0-liter eight-cylinder. Ferrari street models of the time consumed by the three numbers represent the displacement in cubic centimeters of a 12 cylinder, which would in no way a brand with a different number of cylinders.

Ferrari Dino 308 GT4
The Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 were built mid-engined V8-powered 2 +2 cars from Ferrari. The 308 GT4 was introduced in 1973, supplemented by the 208 GT4 and executed in 1975 replaced by the Mondial 8 in 1980 after a production of 2,826 vehicles. It was with “Dino” badging (continuation of the brand is no distinction Dino V12S) to May 1976, when all badges replaced by “Ferrari” badging was sold.
The Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 2 +2 was a groundbreaking model for Ferrari in several respects: It was the first production Ferrari V8 mid-engine layout, that would be the bulk of the activities of the company in the next decades, function, and was the Bertone Ferrari first feature production (rather than Pininfarina) body. Pininfarina was upset by the decision to cross-town rival Bertone design, considering what they had done for Ferrari.
The Ferrari Dino 308 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in November 1973 and contained angular curved lines quite different from its two-seat brother, the Dino 246 and later brother, GTB & GTS.
